Maternal Mental Health & Perinatal Mental Health.
I have been working with clients throughout my career who have identified as birthgivers, have struggled with fertility and have survived birth trauma and birth loss. In 2023, I began trainings to get certified in perinatal mental health through Postpartum Support International (PSI). I am currently in the process of completing this certification. I am hoping to apply my experience using EMDR/egostate therapy support clients in symptom reduction of experiences related to struggles with fertility, infant loss, birth trauma, postpartum depression/anxiety/OCD/psychosis symptoms and the general challenges of being both a new or seasoned parent.

Perinatal mood disorders can start during pregnancy or up to a year postpartum. Perinatal mood disorders include symptoms related to infant loss. Perinatal mood disorders are multidimensional and can occur in both the birth giver as well as caregivers.
Prevalence: About 80% of new birthgivers experience baby blues within first few weeks post birth. In a study that tracked 10,000 birthgivers for 1 year, it was reported that 1 in 7 birthgivers report experiencing serious depression or anxiety either during or after pregnancy. 1 in 2 birthgivers report postpartum psychosis. If you are experiencing symptoms, please know you are not alone, it is not your fault and treatment is possible.
